Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course*

Format: Two-day, instructor-led course

Prerequisite: Completion of basic FHM education and use of fetal monitoring in the intrapartum setting for a least 6 months.

This course addresses the principles of fetal heart monitoring and can also be used as a competency assessment to validate the knowledge and skills of experienced health care professionals. It includes didactic content, hands-on skill station exercises, and testing of the following skills: FHR auscultation, performing Leopold’s Maneuvers, placement of an intrauterine pressure catheter and fetal spiral electrode, tracing interpretation, identification of indicated clinical interventions, communication and documentation.
