
The Open Heart course teaches the basics of caring for an open heart patient, from the preoperative period through discharge.
Includes overview of the immediate post-op period, hemodynamics, commonly used drips, roles and expectations during emergent sternotomy, common respiratory issues, care on POD 1 and beyond, blood glucose management, and pre-op teaching.
This course meets from 0800-1600 for CVICU nurses and from 1200-1600 for 5H nurses.
